About Us
My name is Walker Houghton, and I run Switchback Service and Performance - a new independently owned and operated automotive and powersports service center in the mountains of Colorado. We aim to provide our community and visitors with excellent service on cars, trucks, motorcycles, and watercraft.

I've been using and working on engines for over 25 years. My first "toy" (as we call them in the powersports world) was a 1986 Honda Z50. Since then, I've owned dirt bikes, snowmobiles, jet skis, sports cars, SUVs, motor homes, and even limousines.
​
Though I'm a lifelong member of the powersports world, most of my professional career has been spent in the automotive repair industry. I've worked in shops and dealerships in Baltimore, Boulder, Naples, Silverthorne, Avon, and now, here at home in Leadville. You may be surprised to learn that I spent time not only as a service technician, but also as a service advisor and car salesman.

After many years of learning from the professionals, I'm proud to have gained enough knowledge to open my own shop in the town I've called home for over 10 years. I'm thankful for all of my friends and family who have supported me (in exchange, of course, for service on their many vehicles).Â

This means that when you bring your vehicle to Switchback, you're getting an experience beyond the repair itself. My experience as a technician, service advisor, and salesman has given me the opportunity to understand the repair process from multiple perspectives, and, most importantly, to understand what it's like to be on the customer side of the counter.
